The food was great! Especially the carbonara!
A must visit in Orvieto. Best Carbonara on the planet. We never miss eating here. A reservation is a must to get a seat. Affordable and delicious!!!
was doubtful if this was truly the "best carbonara" in italy. boy was i wrong. the carbonara took up 200% of the plate, and every bite of it was good. usually my palate gets bored after a few bites of carbonara but miraculously that never happened with this plate! there was in my opinion only one bad thing: there was a LOT of carbonara. but im not protesting here. 10 euros for this much carbonara is the most worth it meal ive had in italy so far. would definitely come here again!we also ordered a meat platter to accompany the carbohydrate bomb that is the carbonara, and it was too very flavourful!for those saying that they were disappointed it was closed, i agree that 1.5h of opening time from 7pm-8:30pm is not very long, but please try to make the effort to come to this place for your meal within this tight time slot!service was not anything too special, but the owner was very friendly!the wines also good btwhands down the best carbonara ive had
Fantastic carbonara… it is the best we’ve had after a month in Italy… seriously!
My husband and I stopped here for lunch today. We had a mixed salad, tomato bruschetta and pasta carbonara. Everything was fresh and delicious. The pasta portions were big, I could only eat half only because it didn't fit in my belly!Friendly service and a beautiful rustic setting.Credit cards accepted.
You know when people talk about the life-changing meal they had that one time in Italy blahblahblah, yeah well this is the place and the carbonara is the meal. You may want to fast for a month before you order it because it is huuuge. Honestly. It's enormous and so good. As you're sitting in this little cave of a restaurant you can see a tiny lady through the kitchen window making it in the back. The Chef. Sometimes she comes out to chat with the server while she's supposed to be cooking, and this is fine, it's all part of the recipe. The service is very nice too btw. The lighting is flourescent and unflattering but you're not here to look good, you're here to have your life changed. And change comes through the carbonara. Amen.
Orvieto is quiet and friendly smallish town in Umbria and the food there is exquisite.Mezza Luna is no exception with some outstanding dishes severed by wonderful people in a very "homey" restaurant setting. Nonna would be happy here. The carbonara was very rich, delicious and a fantastic breakfast since I had to take half back to the hotel, it was sooooo much food! This was our last restaurant to visit in Orvieto and we were so happy to have made it in with no reservation. The staff was very generous and graceful to our needs. It will be a joy to revisit this restaurant when we move to our house in February next year.Finche non ci incontreremo di nuovo.
Eating here was just like having dinner at an Italian grandmother’s kitchen! It quickly gets filled and most of the patrons are Italians who love the house specialty of huge portions of spaghetti alla carbonara (10). Prices are extremely reasonable with appetizer, house salad, one carbonara, one scallopini al vino, 1/2 liter of house wine, water, and coperto for only 42.50. It’s certainly to fine dining but it’s good homestyle Italian cooking made and served by a family.
